Frequently Asked Questions

Please reach us at benourishedwithin@gmail.com if you cannot find an answer to your question.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, anxious, stuck, or simply curious about your own growth, counselling can provide support, insight, and emotional regulation tools. You don’t need to be in crisis to benefit from therapy—sometimes people come in simply because they want to understand themselves more deeply or build healthier patterns.
If you’re unsure, booking one session can help you get a feel for the process.

A standard counselling session is 55 minutes and the fee is $150 per session plus GST. Payment can be made by e-transfer or credit card at the time of your appointment.
Many extended health benefits cover counselling services—please check with your provider to confirm your eligibility. I also offer direct billing.

You can schedule an appointment by reaching out through the booking link, my Jane app,  or email. Once you book, I’ll send all the information you need, including intake forms and instructions for your first session. I’m happy to answer any questions you have along the way.

Your first session is about getting to know you—your story, your goals, and what you hope to gain from therapy. We’ll talk about what’s been weighing on you, discuss any symptoms or stressors, and create a plan that feels supportive and doable. You guide the conversation; I walk alongside you.

Counselling with me is collaborative, compassionate, and client-centered. In our sessions, you can expect a safe, non-judgmental space where we explore your experiences, emotions, and goals at a pace that feels right for you. I use evidence-based therapeutic approaches—including person-centered therapy, cognitive behavioural strategies, and trauma-informed care—to support emotional regulation, self-awareness, and overall mental well-being.
There’s no pressure to have the “right” words. You show up as you are, and we work from there.

You don’t need to prepare anything special. Simply come as you are.
Some clients find it helpful to jot down what has been coming up for them or what they want to focus on. Others prefer to share freely in the moment.
Together, we’ll create a space where you can slow down, breathe, and be honest about what you need.

Yes. I provide secure online counselling via Jane app for clients across Canada. Online sessions offer flexibility and accessibility while still providing the same therapeutic support, structure, and confidentiality as in-person care. I will also have a physical location starting January 2026.

Online counselling can be just as effective as in person counselling for: Anxiety and overwhelm, ADHD supports and executive functioning, grief and loss, trauma and coping skills, boundary-setting and communication,
emotional regulation, self-esteem and identity development, as well as stress and burnout.

Remote sessions offer privacy, flexibility, and accessibility for anyone in Canada.

Absolutely. Confidentiality is a core part of ethical counselling practice. Your information is protected and kept private, with the only exceptions being situations where safety is at risk or required by law (for example, harm to self or others). We review all confidentiality guidelines together in your first session.

Therapy is not one-size-fits-all. Some clients feel supported after a few sessions, while others prefer ongoing counselling for deeper healing and long-term support.
We work together to determine a frequency and timeline that aligns with your goals, comfort level, and personal needs.

Yes — therapy isn’t only for crisis.
Many clients come to build emotional literacy, improve self-awareness, strengthen boundaries, and prevent burnout.
Counselling is a proactive investment in your mental health and long-term well-being.

I support clients with a wide range of mental health and personal growth concerns, including : anxiety, stress, overwhelm, grief and loss, ADHD-related challenges, trauma and emotional regulation, boundaries, self-worth, and relationship patterns, life transitions and identity development, burnout and professional stress.
If you’re feeling stuck, disconnected, or unsure where to begin, therapy can help bring clarity and grounding.

Absolutely. Anxiety and stress are some of the most common reasons clients seek therapy. In our sessions, we explore your triggers, patterns, and nervous system responses, and we develop personalized coping strategies.
Counselling can help reduce symptoms, improve emotional regulation, and rebuild a sense of safety and control.

Yes. My practice is rooted in trauma-informed counselling, which means I prioritize emotional safety, consent, empowerment, and nervous system awareness. We never rush into painful material. Instead, we build regulation skills, explore your history gently, and honour your pace in the healing process.

Yes. I use evidence-based therapeutic interventions that are supported by research and widely used in clinical counselling practice. This includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Emotion-Focused Therapy (EFT), mindfulness-based techniques, and trauma-informed strategies.
My goal is to combine research-backed tools with a relational, empathetic approach that is comforting and grounding.

Yes. A strengths-based approach means we focus not just on what’s hard, but also on your resilience, resources, and inner capacities.
Together, we uncover what’s already working for you and build from there.

Yes — boundary-setting, communication skills, and healing relational patterns are areas I support often. We explore attachment dynamics, people-pleasing habits, emotional needs, and how to set clear, healthy boundaries without guilt.
These skills transform relationships and deepen self-worth.
